Water treatment plant in Bolivia

GITEC has recently been awarded a contract by EMEGUA, the Bolivian executing agency for the environment and water to carry out a feasibility study on water and sanitation in peri-urban areas.

The study, that will be carried out with the help of TYPSA, a Spanish consulting engineer, and Aguilar&Asociados, a Bolivian firm, aims to provide the basis for decisions to be made about investment measures to improve and expand potable water and sewerage services in defined areas of Santa Cruz.

The options evaluated include the expansion of the WWTPs in Santa Cruz and/or Puchukollo El Alto and the construction of a new WWTP in Santa Cruz.

Each individual project must be climate-resilient, meet KfW’s technical, environmental, social and financial criteria, and the requirements of Bolivia’s National System of Public Investment (SNIP).

A concept for institutional strengthening and other accompanying measures will also be developed.
